When packing a PC and performing a wild card search, the pack processing time is dramatically reduced if the temporary internet files on the source PC are deleted prior to the pack. When the pack command with a wild card search is executed, System Suitcase maps the files on the hard drive and creates an index to reference which files meet the wild card criteria for later retrieval. If the temporary files are no longer on the source PC, the mapping process is reduced because you have eliminated potentially thousands of temporary files from the search. Of course you do not want to use this tip if your are intentionally transferring internet cache files from one PC to another. |
